Most Popular Mobile games to play in 2022

At the best of times, compiling a definitive list of the top mobile games is difficult - some would say risky - task.
We’re talking about a process that incorporates hundreds of thousands of games spread across iOS and Android, and covers a span of more than a dozen years.
So we’ve decided to approach this from a simple if slightly out-there premise. If an alien were to land tomorrow and ask for a crash course in gaming, which of the best mobile games would you encourage it to install first? With such an unusual filter applied, we’re not looking for obscure gems or even necessarily run-away hits here. We’re looking at those important, genre-defining games that represent something essential to the history of smartphone gaming. A veritable greatest hits compilation of the App Store and Google Play.

All we stipulate is that the game has to still be active and great to play today. We’re also only going to include one game per series, so we’ll generally (but not exclusively) go with the first rather than the best entry.

1)Garena Free Fire Max

Price: Free to play

Garena Free Fire Max only just launched in 2021 and it’s already one of the most popular battle royale games on mobile. It has the usual battle royale stuff. You parachute in with 49 other players and the winner is the last one standing. Games only last about ten minutes wherein you find weapons and supplies to keep yourself alive versus the other people.

This one also features four-man squads, support for Free Fire accounts, and more. The original Garena Free Fire is still good too, but the new one is sure to get more attention from developers.

1)CALL OF DUTY MOBILE

Price: Free to play

Call of Duty: Mobile had the largest mobile game release of all time. There’s a reason for it. The game is one of the most polished in the genre with a good amount of content. The game features various PvP modes, including a 100-player battle royale mode. In addition, the game has a ton of weapons, customizations, and other characters to unlock and play with as you grind it out. It’s honestly right up there with PUBG Mobile and Fortnite as among the best battle royale games on mobile and unless the developers really mess up, it should stay that way for a while.

Fortnite

Price: Paid/Free to play

Fortnite had a controversial launch. However, it’s easily one of the best and most popular battle royale games. The game includes a 100-player battle royale like most in the genre. You drop into an island from a plane, build your armaments, find weapons, and take out the other players. It is a cut above most battle royale games because it also includes a crafting element. Additionally, this one lets you sync your data between the console and PC versions so you can bring all of your skins with you. The game has its flaws, but it’s a lot better than it used to be. The game was also launched on the Play Store officially in early 2020 so you no longer have to sideload the app from Epic Games’ store.
